Literacy

At Taylors Lakes Primary School, we believe that effective English literacy requires the ability to read and use written information, to write appropriately in a wide range of contexts, for many different purposes and to communicate with a variety of audiences. We also acknowledge that literacy is more than just being able to read and write; it is the ability to comprehend, interpret, analyse, respond and interact with the growing variety of complex sources of multi-literacies.

To achieve these beliefs, it is an expectation that every student across our school is involved in 2 hours of Literacy Learning on a daily basis. They may not necessarily be 2 consecutive hours, however 1 hour will be Reading based and 1 hour will be Writing based learning. While Speaking and Listening is embedded across all Areas of Learning.
